The 1909-vintage Colman School in Seattle's Central area has a new life: In March, its main floor will open as the Northwest African American Museum, and the top two floors will be transformed into 36 apartments offering "million-dollar views for working families", according to Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle president James Kelly: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004119384_village11m.html.

How can these types of transformations be made as seamlessly as possible?
